About this tour
Mystery Peru invites you to be part of this new and unique adventure in the Nazca Valley. Travel across de Nazca desert aboard a dune buggy machine and get the full experience of the beautiful Usaka dunes and build memories that last a lifetime. In addition to the ride on the dunes, we also offer you sand boards so that you can practice one of the ultimate sport of Peru “Sandboarding”. The road to the Usaka desert also features stunning views of the great ancient Citadel of Cahuachi, an enormous city built about 2000 years ago entirely with mud. Along the way you will also see old tombs from pre-Inca times and human remains scattered on the desert floor.

Tour description
Stop 1Our dune buggy excursion begins with the collection of our clients at their hotels. Afterwards we will drive towards the west of Nazca, following a dirty road that leads to the lower section of the Nazca Valley. We will drive along the Nazca River and after 20 minutes we will reach the archaeological site of Cahuachi. At the ruins of Cahuachi we will get off the dune car and will explore on foot its pyramids and temples. Later on we will continue down hill and will stop at Estaqueria, another archaeological zone made up by an array of stakes placed on a natural platform about 2000 years ago. At this place we will also visit an ancient cemetery that features tombs structures and human bones scattered on the surface. After some time we will keep moving west along the Nazca River, passing agricultural fields, more ancient burial sites and the little farm community of Tambo de Perro. Eventually we will arrive in Usaka, a great oasis surrounded by beautiful sand dunes. In Usaka, we will head towards the desert zone, where we will have the chance to drive over the dunes and also practice sand boarding. Here our guide will teach you how to use the sand boards and also safe techniques to ride on these dunes. After doing sandboarding for about 1 hour, we will take the road back to Nazca.

Recommendations
- On this tour you must bring light clothing, as the weather in Ica used to be very hot, especially in summer time (from December to March) when temperatures can reach 40º C / 104 ºF sometimes.
- We suggest to bring sun block to avoid sun burning, a hat, a bottle of water and sun glasses.
